Introduction
Nwamaka’s favorite quote is “there are three types of people in the world: those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happened”. As a fellow parent, she watched her child’s school close due to the pandemic and wondered how she would juggle working full time while simultaneously having to parent and teach her child.
She soon realized that working, parenting, and teaching at once is not normal, realistic, nor is it sustainable. Nwamaka piloted what many refer to as a learning pod, others a microschool, and some a quarantine pod in her home for her child and four of her school buddies. The parental relief and joy she felt seeing her child have the opportunity to learn and socialize with friends in a small consistent group that implements safety precautions and procedures continues to be immeasurable. As a result, she decided to make some changes to Nannyland, a company she founded that provides onsite childcare services for events. She knew that what she was providing for her child is a service many need, and felt compelled to make it happen for other families.
With an extensive background in clinical social work, education positions inside the school and at the district level she is uniquely positioned to match your family with a nanny educator who can support your child’s social, emotional, and academic learning.
Nwamaka is a graduate of University of California, Berkeley and University of Chicago, but her most important learning has taken place in parenthood.
When she is not pouring into her little human to develop her into an amazing adult, she enjoys working out and food prepping.
